Phases and Methodology
The Health AI Innovation Awards Portugal follow a transparent, structured methodology focused on the practical implementation of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare.
The process is based on a National Scorecard for Best Practices, ensuring rigour, fairness, and consistency in the evaluation of submissions, from launch through to the public recognition of projects with proven impact on the healthcare system.
Public call for AI projects applied to healthcare, developed in Portugal or implemented within the National Health Service (SNS).
Applications may be submitted until 31 March 2026.
An independent and multi-sector Jury applies the scorecard to all submissions.
Important: all teams will receive their individual scorecard, promoting transparency and continuous improvement.
Rather than selecting a single "winner", distinctions will be awarded according to levels of maturity and impact:

Significant Contribution to the National Health Service (SNS)
Jury deliberation will take place until 12 May.
The ceremony will be integrated into the Think Tank Saúde Sustentável 2026, in the presence of national decision-makers, ULS coordinators, municipal leaders, researchers, NGOs, and representatives from the technology industry.
Awards Presentation Ceremony: 16 June 2026.
The annual Health AI Innovation Awards Portugal National Report will consolidate the evaluated projects, anonymised and aggregated scorecards, identified best practices, and strategic implementation recommendations for the Portuguese National Health Service (SNS), to be released by 30 June 2026.
